General CA knife laws

I am a knife carrier in Southern California, and as far as I know, it is legal to carry in plain view, so I carry with the knife clipped on the outside of my pocket, in plain view. My question is, does it matter the size of the knife? I own a Cold Steel Gunsite II folder, which most of us know is > 3".

I was under the impression that size doesn't matter in California, unless it is an automatic.
 
State law has no length limit on folders or fixed. Autos must not be more than 2". LA and LA County have a 3" limit.
