This is the third vid in General Prep series. This represents a basic Summer kit that will get you through an overnight trip to the woods. Keep in mind if you are hiking in you will need a map and compass as well. If you have any questions or want to know more about specific items just holler.

The next video will be useing this gear to set up a camp.

Awesome stuff, thanks for posting. Looking forward to the 2-3 day kit loadout mentioned.

Thanks again. I like the way you break it down by personal protection, firecraft/first-aid/specific environment & conditions protection, and sustenance. Awesome videos

Great advice on telling family and friends your plans. In fact I even do this with state parks etc. I roll with a Hennessy hammock for summer and Kifaru Paratipi with small stove or Parastove in winter. Just depends on how UL I want to pack. Looks like a ZL H501? I have two, one in Q3-5A (warmer tint). A nice flood light for camp use. :) The poncho works great for a pack cover too. I pack a canteen but also take a Platy bag so can cover more distance without being too closely tied to water. One big consideration is camp site selection. The first thing I do is look up and around for possible widow makers, rock slides, flash flood potential, proper drainage etc. I also avoid areas that won’t receive morning sun in the winter and are in a general depression as cold settles into these areas. This is far more important in winter but someone might be surprised as to the risks of getting cold in summer given the right set of circumstances. Nice video.

Edit.

I would add a closed cell pad to the basic gear list.
