General Purpose Fixed Blade Wisdom Sought

I'm in the market for a good, general purpose, fixed blade knife. Something that can be used as a tool and a defensive weapon, preferably with a MOLLE compatible sheath.

I've narrowed it down to the Benchmade Nimravus and the Kabar D2 Extreme. Any thoughts or wisdom from the group very much appreciated!

I have the KaBar D2 Extreme. I have looked at the Nimravus but did not get it because of the blade length and the metal handle.
I would also consider looking at the Cold Steel Leatherneck, also in D2, with a thicker tang than the KaBar (I have one as well). Also have a look at the SOG SEAL Team, it has a 7" blade with serrations, really thick full tang blade too.

Becker Knives, also from KaBar, are tough as nails and provide good value. The BK2 is darned near bomb-proof while the BK7 was designed to serve as a military knife IIRC.
