what is the generic name for the type of grinderwheel, not stone. seems to be 3M, or scotchbrite, on ebay...

am I making any sence??

tnx/ al

I'm not sure if there is a generic name for what you are asking. I would just can it a scotchbrite wheel.Other than that , no clue.

I think the term used by comanies that can't use the word 'Scotchbrite' is 'Non-woven (or nonwoven) abrasive wheel'. I've seen the word 'unitized' attached to it sometimes.

thanks for the info. it seems I find hits on google for deburing wheel..
I will try the other non-scotchbrite terms and see what I can find..
some wheels have a 1 inch center, I am also trying to find a center to fit these
wheels to fit my 3/4 inch grinder.. I made a "spacer" out of a plastic milk jug. well it dont look bad and it keeps the wheel centered...;}

3M makes a couple of different convolute Scotch-Brite Deburring Wheels. There is an EXL type for general use and and an SST type for Aluminum and Stainles Steel. The SST type is also recommended for Titanium. They come in either a Silicon Carbide or Aluminum Oxide abrasive. Besides the different abrasives they come is a couple of different densities as well as hole sizes which are 1" and 3". Mostly used to debur, radius and polish. You can find them at Enco, MSC and any number of other suppliers.

You can find one of the cheapest scotchbrite wheel on the Jantz Supply catalog and they also have a multi part spacer for the center of the wheel to fit the various buffers or grinders. Mike
