Yet another package from our friend Jack Black!!Jack gifts A.jpg
A plethora of interesting and enjoyable gifts!!Jack gifts B.jpg
Spread out on a Harris Tweed Sit-Upon, for those damp park benches, are various knives, a corkscrew (Jack knows me well!), and other treats!! ( I was fresh out of Henderson's!!!) And a never-sent Christmas card from when CanadaPost was on strike!! Ha Ha!!
Thanks, Jack!! What a nice surprise!!! Thanks so much!! You made my day!!!

Looks like C.BATTY&Co or something similar to me. Tweedale's 2nd edition lists a John Batt & Co, but it looks like they mostly dealt in tableware. John Cocker Batt was one of the sons who took over the company after the original John died. It does look like there may be something preceding the C. on the tang stamp? Perhaps your 3rd edition of Tweedale's may have something further. I think the 3rd edition lists quite a few names that didn't make it into the 2nd edtition.
Nice example of flat cap jigging.

I see nothing before the C. - It could be C. Batty & Co definitely a letter after the Batt (v or y) - But I can't find that in any book!!

I don't see a C.Batty in the 3rd edition.

Found a trade directory on a site called sheffied indexers. Searched for surname Batty. There were 219 results. There were 7 Charles Batty's. One was listed as a Saleshop at 206 High Street in 1875-1876. Another was listed as a shopkeeper at 68 Spital Hill in 1925.

Glad it made it Charlie! 😀 I have a couple of other parcels to send to folks, but they have changed the darn customs forms again! 😖

Terribly worn Pruner, but that's the best example of Sheffield Flat Cap jigging I've seen 👍
