GenII or GenIII custom

I've been offered a rather nice 3.5" GenII non flipper. I've only owned/own GenIII midtechs and don't really know much about the full customs or the older Gen's. Also it seems there's not much info about the GenII on this forum and most customs I see here are GenIII.

I'd like to know please if most folks here prefer GenIII customs to the GenII or viceversa. I'm not looking at which will hold it's value better as it'll eventually become a user  Is there much difference in price on both in the secondary market? Only drawbacks I can think of with the older Gen's are the price and the stamp being on the blade (I prefer it on the handle, leaving the blade sterile). The plus side for me for the older one is that it's more rare. Don't know if I should go for this GenII or hold on for a GenIII custom and save some money (if ther is a difference in price). What do you prefer? Any advice appreciated thanks.

I personally like the name stamp.
Seen alot of folks here beat with their customs.
So I don't see really differences between the two.

I would say it comes to preferences.
For me. I go with gen 2

Thanks. Apart from the different placement of the name stamp, are there any other differences between the two? Like thickness of liner for example or anything else?

Between the customs there is little difference.
In the gen.2 period they were all full customs, there were no productions.
I have only gen.3 but would love a gen.2 too. They don't come up that often.

If you have the opportunity to own a Gen 2. Jump on it. Rick isn't making them anymore. The are rarer and even though you said the value doesn't matter. The Gen 2's will always hold their value since they are becoming harder and harder to find.

As for differences. I can't see many differences like Pieter said but for some reason the Gen 2 feels different in my hand. I love it. Which is why I EDC a 3.5 gen 2 flipper on and off duty.

Some Gen 2 porn. :)

You can always track down a Gen 3 custom since they are still being made. Not many people will be willing to let go of their Gen 2 customs. So jump on it while you can!

I would go for the gen2 if I had the choice. Basically for the same reasons as RickCDP pointed out. Not to mention, I actually prefer the look of the name on the blade:D

Thanks for your input everyone I appreciate it. I guess I've decided to go for this GenII :) I'll post a couple of pics in this thread as well as in the picture thread when I have it.

@RickCPD Thankyou for the pic. It's like the large one, has the same spanto grind but with a cf scale and no flipper. Can't wait for it! :D

Great pics Rick. Love them Gen 2's
