Several people have asked about GenO Denning's hollow grinding jig that was pictured in the shop tour pics I posted.

GenO took some pics of his "hawg" - both intact and broken down for everyone to see.

The hawg is made out of:
- 3/4" galvinized bar
- one set of H-D Sportster valve springs & retainer
- the bearing is off a Harley Davidson valve lifter, basically what I had laying around in a junk bin
- 1/4" flat bar

Flats were milled in on the 3/4 bar. The bearing holder is made out of the same 3/4 bar turned down and welded to a 3/4 shaft collar.

I hope that help those of you who asked. If you need any more info, please contact GenO directly at cden101656@aol.com

That is one fine knife shop GenO! How do you keep it so clean???

Always think of your fellow knife makers as partners in the search for the perfect blade, not as people trying to compete with you and your work!

Tons of thanks for posting this thread!

Great info and a nicely done photo gallery Geno.

I have a question about how the fixture works. In the photo it looks like your right hand is pushing the blade into the grinder while pulling the blade from right to left. Does the main post "swivel" on the tool rest? Is that why it is spring loaded...?

Sorry for the questions....I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer...but found the jig very clever!

Sincerely,
Rob Frink
