This Awesome knife was custom built from a stock off the shelf GJ.. Titanium bolsters, Titanium liners, Lightning Strike CF Scales. Wave bye bye!
Very slick... Very Stabby!
Alex is a fine builder coming into his own. All of the big knife producers are courting him.. and it's no wonder.
Enjoy.

WOW

It looks so much sleeker without the wave. I like it a lot.
Me too! I'm not a fan of the wave at all on Gentleman Jims.... I think they look much sleeker and refined without the wave here. And I agree with Ernie, that contrary to it's name.... it looks like it full of bad intent! Not that Gentlemanly :)

That is a beautiful knife.

Thanks Rev! Long time no ... talk!

Thanks everyone for the kind comments... The spotlight should really to to Alex. He had a ton of bad press do to missing deadlines (Including this one).. But as we all know, life deals us curveballs sometimes. Alex dealt with some real challenges, but pulled himself up out of it, and is now doing what he does best! I can't praise this guy enough. (Thanks Alex!). The pictures are one thing, but when you have this knife in your hand, you then know the quality of what a custom knife feels like. I can't wait to get one (or more) of Alex's own creations.

Mick, you have great taste in picking a knife to get customized. I'm tempted to get one done this way, with some good old G10. Good to see you hangin around.

My friend that is drop dead gorgeous. Well worth the wait. I know we differ on the wave, but good call on this one, very sleek:thumbup:

Ps~makin me wanna up my photo game! Great job on these!

I love Stock but this one is o so nice.

I have to agree Rolf. I love the stock look, but to me at least, out of all the Emerson folders- - - *THIS* is the one that looks actually a tad better (and that's hard to do IMO) modded.

Me personally, other than getting a better material etc. etc.- I don't get modding out The7 or 6- -it looks silly to me (as I duck thrown bottles) but this piece is smoking no doubt. I'd like to see it with the wave too. Great job to Mr.Dietz

Stunning design -- I like stock emersons' for their ruggeddness, but this is absolutely marvelous!

7's are modded because many have them and are the iconic Emerson design. Pretty sure Emerson does custom models on almost all the models, and the 6 only comes as a custom.

You're correct. I shouldn't have included the 6 my statement - the reason I did though was because that seems to be the "modded look" most times I see any Emerson NOT in stock mode. Follow me?

I also agree on the "iconic design" thinking. Which is why I don't like the look of one done with bolsters etc. etc. It's just my opinion hence why I was ducking bottles. ;-)

Thank's y'all for all the kind words. I actually offered it up for sale at USN, but took it down as it's just too nice a piece... and the wait was just too long.. to let it go (at least at this point)
I'm pretty sure (correct me if I'm wrong).. that just about every model that Ernie has put out, comes bolstered if you get the "custom" version. So I still think that a bolstered Emerson can be considered "iconic"... maybe not the removal of the wave, nor the upgraded LSCF scales.... The removal of the wave was a personal preference thing, and not Alex's idea... Then again Alex was just the Artist taking orders from me. I still wanted it to look like a classic Jim.. and at quick look there's no mistake this is an Emerson GJ.. but then as you look at it, it morphs into something a bit sleeker, but still not straying too far... paying homage to the original design.
For comparison purposes.. here is a Stock-Custom GJ as it comes from Ernie... Wave intact, and green micarta scales... Lovely.
Some would not vary from it... I wouldn't. But I started from a bone stock black micarta GJ.

Smoking. Not much on the bolster look, but that is just me. Incredible work and quite a talent you have there, you should be very proud - I know I would be.:-)

I think there are more custom CQC-9's that are done in black G10 than with bolsters+micarta.

That's just beautiful. Removing the wave definitely improves the knife's aesthetics. The GJ really has great lines, which I don't think one appreciates so much in the stock version. I've got the GJ on my wish list, and if I ever get one, I know where I'm gonna send it.
