Little review of what it is like?

I am going to try and get one as a trade for a Spyderco UKPK TI. Will it be worth it. I am not as big a fan of the design as I am for other Emerson models. But at the minute I am on a real Emerson hunt.

Any comments appreciated.

I don't have a Gentleman Jim but I have had a large amount of different Emersons in my time. I can tell you the ergos will be top notch as are all Emerson knives. The blade is meant for stabbing but that doesn't mean that it can't be used as a general EDC. The 154cm will perform amazingly and because of the gradual curve of the edge will be a breeze to sharpen. All in all it will be a great knife, however you likely won't get a straight across trade for your Spyderco. Be prepared to add cash on your end.

Two very different knives, and I would consider the UKPK to be the better knife for general utility. Also, for where you are, I would hang on to the UKPK. If you do trade for the GJ, I would only consider doing it straight up as the Ti UKPK is discontinued.

The Gentleman Jim is my favorite Emerson that I own and one of my favorite knives that I own. I really like how slim the profile is and the wave works better that any other Emerson I've tried. The ergonomics are out of this world and it's very pointy for piercing into anything.

I'm a little biased, but I truly believe that the GJ is an awesome all around knife.

Thank you for the feedback fellas. gooeytek I agree and they are quite rare and sort after in the UK cause they are 'legal'. Thats why I thought I would get opinions.

But I am loving Emerson models at the minute.

Very much agree with this assessment.

I really like the GJ. It is an awesome folder that packs a lot of blade into a fairly small overall package. The blade shape and handle are what sold me on it. It is a very clean design and has every bit of the robustness one might need from a larger knife.

I just got mine today. I absolutely love this thing! It is the most comfortable emerson I have ever felt in the hand. My only regret is that I did not buy it sooner.
