Thought you guys might enjoy a few progress pics. I was doing some photo work on a Bowie I'm doing and discovered I had these on my camera!
First two show the knife with all the parts fitted to the assembly:

Next one shows this fittings shaped and ready for filework:

The next two with the ferrule fluted:

Then, the last one, which you've seen.
Hope you enjoy these.

Thank you for sharing. Very informitive for a new collector in demostrating your "take down design". It would have added however, to see a photo of the rod tang attached to the blade before sliding the handle material over.

Will this work? (Note the Black Ash Bowie above it - ready for some file work and hot buing today)

Thanks Karl.
It's almost a shame in that much of the persision work and skill which goes into a knife is covered up.

Great post, Karl. I have a question. How do you drill the thong hole in the pommel nut? I just got my mini-mill and you have inspired me to do something similar.

No big secret. I tried for a long time to figure out how to do it on my mill, but just ended up sticking it in my vise, letting "The Force" be with me, and drill it through with my Dewalt cordless drill. Much more control.
