Gentleman's carry / EDC style slip joint

I am looking for a nice slipjoint that I can carry around as a Gentleman's carry. The Mnandi (even though not a slipjoint) is an example of what I am looking for. The problem with the Mnandi is it is slightly too big. I am looking for something no bigger than a 2.5" blade.

I guess I am looking for a new slipjoint that is a mixture of old and new designs. I am not even sure this exists but something with modern great steels like S35VN would be great. I am not sure if this is the best place to ask for this so I apologize in advance.

I made a thread about this a while ago but it got derailed by me so I thought I'd start over.

In the Mnandi price range you could have a custom built. Moki is another option. Is the 2.5 blade length or closed length?

Maybe look at the spyderco roadie, I'm not sure what steel it comes in but it's worth checking out.

Check out this thread - http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php/1460053-Gentleman-s-Folder. This beautiful knife by Jeff Baker could be just the ticket. I'm expecting mine early next week and it has been a long time since I was this enthusiastic about a new knife.

OOPS - except that it is not a slip joint. A front opener. And - it is not a "TRADITIONAL" (I didn't notice the sub forum you posted in - the Mnandi reference got me sidetracked) but it does comply with your "... mixture of old and new designs. I am not even sure this exists but something with modern great steels like S35VN would be great."

Let's keep the recommendations to Traditional slip joints guys. The pocket clips and spider holes are not considered traditional in this forum. If the OP wants to have recommendations outside what typically flies in this forum, I can move the thread to General.

That being said, for the price of a Mnandi you can probably find yourself a nice handmade (custom) slip joint. I don't know how much time you've spent looking through the threads here. The What Traditional Knife are ya totin today thread is a good place to get an idea of what's available. Also our exchange is a great place to browse and get ideas, as well as finding one you'd like to own. If you're really looking for S35VN you might have to have one made for you.

Good luck!

Three Rivers Manfacturing makes a very nice little modern slipjoint called the Nomad blade just over 2" in CPM154. Here is a pic of mine:

They come in various colors and in fact additional covers can be ordered and switched out.

How about a Case Sodbuster Jr in carbon fiber? SS and the blade length is 2.88", they are thin, light and pocket friendly.

Brett mentioned Moki, here is a small Moki Fish Owl. Black micarta with 2.5" AUS8 blade.
