I have lost several Buck 505s over the years as the have a way of slipping out of my front pocket when I sit. I have a nice CRKT M16 for blue jean wear but know the clip will tear up the pocket of my suit. I am interested in a dress knife with wood or stainless scales around three inches closed with good steel for sharpening for less than 100 dollars with a hole in the hinge end to which I could attatch a watch fob. I seem to be continually attacked by strings and packages when I am having to wear a suit and defenseless.I'd appreciate any help you can provide.

Thanks,
Bill Daniel

dullone: I guess it does'nt have to be in the hinge pivot just on one end to attatch it to a chain so I won't lose it.
Thanks,

how about a kershaw chive? stainless, a little less than 3 inches closed, lanyard hole. perfect for light office duty. plus the speedsafe is beyond cool. newgraham.com has em' good luck.

I've always been a big fan of the Benchmade 330. The Spyderco Kiwi is great too. Finally, the SOG Blink is a neat assisted opening lockback that is flat enough to work well as a money clip.

Let me recommend the Spyderco SS Dragonfly/PE. It fits most of your requirements and the clip (which allows for point-up carry) will hold the knife securely to your pants but shouldn't tear them. It does have a lanyard hole (but not on the hinged end)through which you could put a fob/lanyard. These run around $45.00 to $55.00 on the Internet.

Gotta second that. Small and sleek, classy look, light, locks up solid and is sharp as all get-out. The pocket chain makes it easy to clip it to and remove it from a set of keys too. I've really grown quite fond of mine whenever circumstances dictate something a little less "obtrusive." :D

I’m not sure about $100 limit however it rather should fit over points of your bill.

I would also recommend the Spyderco Kiwi but also the Benchmade Levitator. If you are looking for something in the custom range, look at Dick Atkinson's framelocks which you can usually find for around a hundred or so. They come with a great little anodized ti handle, a 440C blade, and filework. Hard to find any knife that nice for the price.

I too wear a suit and travel a lot on business. I have finally found the perfect "gentleman's" knife for my needs, in the Kershaw Leek. I know it is longer than you mentioned, being 4" closed, but for me it is a comfortable size. The clip is very smooth, and I haven't had any problems with fabric wear. Moreover, the Leek has such a slim profile, that it practically dissapears in the pocket. The Leek is really slim, even moreso than the Scallion. Plus, it has a lanyard hole for your watch fob and the Warncliffe blade is perfect for opening envelopes, slitting open a package, or even paring an apple at lunch.
Think about it. At $44 you get a lot of bang for the buck.

The Spyderco Kiwi is hard to beat if the size isn't too small. However, it cuts and handles like a bigger knife. I sometimes worry about it sliding out of a pocket, though.

For a slick gent's knife with a clip, the discontinued Spyderco Viele is a dandy. They're getting hard to find.

Thanks to all! Does the Kiwi have a hole through the bolster as it appears in the picture?
Thanks again!

Bill, I can't think of a single folder that has a hole of any kind near the pivot (hinge) end of the knife.

I find the Kiwi pretty much the perfect mini-pocket knife. It will disappear in a front pants pocket, even with thin wool dress slacks.

A big plus on the Kiwi is that if you have medium to large hands - you can still perform a "Spyderdrop" by grasping the hole with your finger and thumb and flick the body away from the blade. Perfect for when you want a quick opening.

Jazzman,Architect,Sergiusz Mintin and all, sorry to be dense but as I look at the picture of the Kiwi the bolster opposite the hinge pin side has a dark spot that looks like a hole through which I could attach a chain or am I mistaken?
I like the look of the Kiwi but I would hate to have it join the Bucks. Also, I was not able to find the BM 450P on their web site is it no longer in production?
Many thanks,
Bill Daniel

Thanks, AlphalphaPB. That RedWood Kestrel has to be one of the prettiest knives I have ever seen!
