One of my favorite blade profiles is the spear point, for too long we have allowed the clip point to rule, rise up ye worshippers of the spear point and give photos of this under-rated profile to the world!:D

Off the top of my head.

Spear is my favorite, sheepsfoot is not far behind, perhaps the fondness of the spear besides its utility is because my first knives were spear points.

First knives starting at age six.

I think that's all of them

One of my favorites is this little guy with it's slender spear blade:

It's a 1940-something (I don't have my references handy, and can't seem to remember the exact year currently) Schrade lobster knife. :)

Northwoods, anyone?

I love me some spear points! I still need to pick up a spearpoint Charlow, though. Soon... Soon.

I love a good spearpoint blade! I had never really considered it too strongly until I picked up a GEC #15 single spear boys knife. The spearpoint just seemed to be the perfect blade for my needs and it's been my favorite ever since. I recently picked up this Ken Erickson 3.5" spear point to replace the GEC as my daily carry knife and I'm loving it. It seems not many makers are offering a single blade spearpoint knife in this size so I was thrilled when I found this one.

The Clip Point is my LEAST favorite of all blade shapes. That high spine drives me crazy. Plus I rarely really find a NEED for an absolute pointy point on a blade. The Spear is a great all around blade and if paired with a coping secondary (92 Eureka Jack!) for detailed work then you have a near-perfect combo.

I do like the Wharnie and Sheepfoot blades too, especially for their straight edges (so easy to sharpen!), but they do sort of have a higher spine also. For me and my needs a spear is ideal and actually a spey blade does 95% of what I need a blade for. These blades also ride relatively low in profile and get the job done for me.

I have just one spear point Bowie in my Bowie collection.
Craig Camerer I acquired from a fellow collector in LA.

Love a good spear blade. One of the most versatile blade shapes you can have, imo:

I could go on, but I'll stop there.... :D

Theres something about the spear blade that brings me back home. I just love'em!

I have always found a clip point to be much more visually appealing compared to a spear point and probably always will. The pointier nature of the clip point tip is also preferable to me. In my experience they're about equal in terms of overall utility.

However, the older jacks I've picked up in the last few years that happened to be spear points have increased my aesthetic appreciation for that blade. Previously if it came down to clip vs. spear with all other things being equal I'd take clip pretty much every time. Now, though, I'm more than willing to give the spear a chance.

Wow that Old Cell is like a bumble bee! I'm certainly in favour of the Spear
