Gentlemen's working knife?

Does anyone besides Chris Reeve make a gentlemen’s working knife like a wood inlaid small Sebenza? I have asked a similar question before, just wondering if there are any new answers. Looking for similar quality, and cost. Doesn’t have to have wood inlay’s, just the usefulness of a working knife with a 3” blade and the elegance of a gentlemen’s knife. Custom or production. Thanks.

Ivan, Queens are nice, but I need the utility of one hand opening and closing. Thanks.

Depending on what your willing to spend and what your lock preference is...

For a 3 inch blade "custom" design, I would get a Kit Carson Model 4, Phil Boguszewski Classic (Mini), or a Scott Sawby Combat/Utility. The first two are liner locks, but they are totally reliable locks. The Sawby uses his patented self-lock, which takes some getting used to. Scott also make a mini version of the C/U with a 2-5/" blade. These knives will all run you in the $600 range when you can get them. I also like Tom Mayo's knives, but Tom tends to use thicker blade steel, which is not my preference in a smaller utility knife.

Production knives: The William Henry Westcliff is a nice package, but if are willing to get a slightly longer blade (3.25"), then I would get the new Quest from them. Nice, point clip blade is a bit more utilitarian than the Westcliff - no clip tho. These are going for $375.

The only other one that seems to hit all chords with me is the Benchmade 960 series. I have one of the SS models with a D2 blade and it a great utility knife that looks pretty good, right around $200. You can pick up one of the aluminum ones for around $130, but I have an aversion to aluminum-handled knives. I got one of the Limited Edition Carbon Fiber/Pearl models, and it is very lightweight (has no clip), but I actually prefer the heaviness of the SS handles on this particular design. AXIS lock is great, BTW.

Some that come to mind:

+ The Kershaw Double Duty or Double Cross
+ The Spyderco Kiwi
+ The Lone Wolf Loveless City Knife
+ Case (select the model to many to list)
+ SOG Gentleman or Stingray
+ A.G. Russell Pocket Lockback

I suggest you read my post about the benchmade 690 Elishewitz! Very pretty and plenty strong!!

IMO, even stronger than the griptilian i've had for a while....so you can't go wrong with it!

I second the Benchmade 690 suggestion, and take a look at the William Henry line of knives as well.

Something like this:

I've become a big fan of Dozier folding hunters (and I don't hunt). He's not making them for a while to get caught up on back orders. They come in 3 sizes and the one at Vintage Knives (above) has a 3" Wharncliife-styleblade - which is not a straight wharncliffe and is quite interesting and useful. Visit Dozier's site and a look around - may give you some ideas. Billy, the man behind Vintage Knives, is also good to chat with.

Good luck.

I will third the vote for the 690, one of Benchmade's finest knives.

I've heard nice things about Mnandi's by CRK that are good users and quite handsome looking.
