I just bought a new GM.

I had never actually seen one other than in pictures (there are no good knife shops around here). It is a little smaller than I expected, but that's fine.

It came perfectly centered & with very early lockup but was so stiff it was very hard to open.

I took it apart, cleaned it out & lubed it with inox (I do this with most all Emersons) & now it is super smooth & waves with no effort at all. This has got to be the sharpest knife I have ever seen, it is scary wicked sharp & I am super impressed with the blade.

Ah man. I knew when I saw the header you got one. Congrats ! I had read about the lack of width with that particular piece but (at least from pics I've seen) that is Really an attractive piece. In your opinion John - can it be used in the utility role? I know any knife can cut but you know what I'm saying.

I see no reason it can't be used for EDC purposes, it sure murdered the hell out of a couple UPS packages yesterday LOL ;-)

I will have to be careful of the tip obviously. What I find funny is, the handle is very similar to my Spyderco Yojimbo 2 -and I hate the Y2 but I love the GJ.

PS: I'll post a few pics later today when I get a minute.

The "gentleman" must be ironic... Jim looks like a bad man! Very nice looking folder.

Gentleman Jim Corbett.
Heavyweight Boxer, defeated John L. Sullivan back in 1891.
A true Gent. But packed a mean punch.
Cheers

Had my eye on this model for awhile. Gotta love that pointy tip. How does it carry compared to other Emersons?

Awesome!!! I've always loved the looks of the GJ but I don't have much use for it :o
