Where's the best place to find low cost, yet genuine, Damascus steel knives. I've been looking at budk's Damascus, but i'm uncertain on whether or not they're real or just etched.

real damascus is like saying real stainless. It varies from awful to great, depending on who made it and from what steels, and bud k is never a place to look for quality.

yeah search "damascus knife" on fleabay and you will see a very wide range of quality, from fake.etched to serious high-end clean & tight-patterned steel.

I know generally budk isn't for quality, but I do enjoy it for the collectible stuff and occasional gadget. However, i have found some CRKT and gerber's there, along with a few bucks and SOG's.

I just typed in "Damascus Knife" and got 10,533 results, sure you searched right?

Spyderco has some damascus models; that is as cheap as I would go for well made damascus. A step up would be any of the Chris Reeve knives. Damascus by a maker like Devin Thomas is a mark of quality. There are several other known makers, that knife companies use.

interesting. I'm looking for something in the family of a damascus pocket knife. something around $100 or so.

Kershawguy has some nifty Onion-series Damascus blades for ridiculously good prices. The shallot comes in @ $99 shipped.
