I am a committed collector of fixed forged blades, but every once in a while I go off the reservation.

I have always admired the work of the late George Herron, particularly his elegant Fighters. The problem with them is that they are few and far between and, when however briefly available, very highly priced. Essentially, when you see one, you had better pull the trigger smoothly and very quickly. Yesterday, fortunately I was online and saw the Nordic update flicker into my INbox...

Here is the result, in Sambar stag livery, no less. I am sure when I eventually get over to Coop's studio, it will look even better.

Yep, definitely a very nice one. I've always thought Herrons were about as clean (read as "perfect") as you can get. I saw Nordic's flash about 20 min into the update, and this one, as it was meant to be, was GONE! Hard to find the fighters.

Lucky you!

saw that up on Nordic yesterday, seemed very reasonable price wise.
Love me Nordic knives, one of my favourite sites :)

Beautiful.

Herron, that model in particular, was one of the main reasons I started making knives.

That is a handsome knife and sheath! Impressive! Congrats.

He is deadly at finding the deals at shows. Looks like it works from home, also. Good grab there, Peter. Top notch piece. I approve of your moderate recklessness.

Great acquisition! As you say, most Herron are difficult to find and the fighter is just one of the much nicer knives one could hope for out of his stable.
