First Post.

Although I am just a knife amateur,
I still would like to post my observations.

and ...

I am impressed.

1) The substantial box taping/packaging
2) The nice inside presentation box
3) The personalized letter
4) The tape protecting the blade

And finally - The knife ...

It is much larger than I imagined.
With a solid hefty feel.
Made for someone with huge hands.
The perfect mirror finish.
Almost a big as a cleaver and
all for just $120 US.

It is really almost too nice a knife to actually use, but I will do so anyway.

Reading the enclosed personalized letter reinforced the design aspects of the knife.

1) Thin near the tip for delicate slicing
2) Large "rockable" middle for general use
3) Thick near handle for heavy cutting
4) Large surface area for scooping

I would not recommend this for a "lady's" hand (Weight/Size) although George said he
could make a smaller version on special request, however he finds that many women
feel that the weight actually helps in the cutting action.

The professionalism displayed throughout the purchase was amazing. In fact, I hope all custom makers treat us just as well !

Welcome BL. George and his work are very special.

Thanks for posting glad to have you aboard.

Yep, George's kitchen knives are seriously good stuff (heck…all of his knives are great

). I ordered one of his K6 chef's knives a couple of years ago and I was impressed enough with it to order several more as Christmas gifts for my siblings. As good as the knives are, the customer service you get with a Tichbourne knife is even better. I can vouch for the fact that Carol and George will make every effort to ensure customer satisfaction. They do a great job of communicating with their clients and all of their products that I've handled have been first-rate…great value, too. In fact, I'm expecting another package from the Tichbourne's in the not-too-distant future…I'm sure I'll continue to be a satisfied customer

Gee thanks guys but in this business where most people order sight unseen the maker has to do something to justify that faith. Behaving in a professional manner is how I try to justify the customer's faith in my product. Without Carol's help however it would not be possible. Together we try to make every purchase a positive experience for the customer.

Jim your patience is about to be rewarded.

Welcome to the forums, BL. You certainly had good luck in choosing to deal with two of the finest folks in the knife business. I don't know how much the handles differ in size, but my wife, Sandy, has one of George's carving sets and her small hands LOVE the substantial handle on her knife (she's an executive chef).

Based on forum comments, I have placed an order for one of George's carving knife sets in stag with Monel($375US). The order confirmation and response was the best I have observed in 30+ years of collecting custom knives mostly direct from makers. Corbet Sigman also does an excellent job of order confirmation for collector grade knives and delivery times for both using and collector grade are usually on time. Thanks for the forum member comments. Dick.
