If you like the Office Knife, then you'd love this one. Back in 1998 Camillus made a reproduction of the pen knife carried by George Washington. I was able to pick one up at a knife shop in Freeport Maine back in 2000. The pattern is the "Quill Pen" pattern and the handles are of imitation mother of pearl, and a German silver bolster, the blade is very small as to the handles and it came in a velvet presentation box. I have read that this is actually a repro of a much earlier repro, that Camillus actually produced these initially back in the 1930's. Mine is of the 1998 issue, but I still consider it a worthy find none the less. A nice addition to my CAMCO Lone Ranger! Now if I could just find me one of the Camillus/Santa Fe Dinosaur Bones I'd be very happy.

Yes, the reproductions of this knife are cool. :)

Also, the possibility that it was a reward from his mother for not joining the British Navy, and may have been used to remind him about loyalty, when he considered resigning as our young country's commander, make it a nice piece to own.
Wow, that was a runonsentence..... :o

Hello Don Luis,
That is very interesting! I wonder if he ever got another knife? I thought I read somewhere that the knife was on display at the George Washington Masonic National Memorial. This would certainly throw a wrench in the whole story unless it is the same knife as the original. Maybe he found it? But if not, it appears he is seeking a 2 bladed knife, and I thought the original was a small 1 blade with a little crook in it. (Hoof Pick?). I wonder if the Camillus reproduction is based on what is on dispay, or on some other medium?

Oh Tom, are you around? :)

Dang! For some reason I cannot view the pics? Maybe pop up blocker is blocking them? Got to read the great info though. The small crook is for nail grooming I believe.

Dan

OK, we'll go with nail grooming, then. :)

If you find a source to verify that, or anything else about the knife, I'd be interested.
