Hello,
I've been reading this forum for a long time, gained great insight, but never had much to add or ask -until now.
While going through some boxes, I found a knife I purchased at a yard sale many years ago but never gave a second thought to. The knife is a Wostenholm and seems to be 19th century. It looks like the "I*" from the "I*XL" was either worn off over the years or was never there in the first place.
The blade seems to be from their pruning line, but the wood and hardware seem almost crude enough to be a very early rebuild. I wish someone hadn't carved "1840" into the side, but the carving seems to be as old as the wood.
Anyway, any help would be appreciated in finding the lineage of this one. I'd love to know the age-range and value. Can't imagine ever selling it though.
Thanks, Brian
