I was reading the knife laws for Georgia and it was very unclear to me. Is there anyone who could clarify exactly what is and is not allowed to be done with knives in Georgia. My interpretation was as long as the knife is out in the open it is ok to carry. Any help would be great.

I would be interested in that also. If someone was to carry a fixed blade in a sheath on their belt what would the max length of the blade that they could carry? Would a 4" blade be ok or is it one of those laws that is up to what ever the office at the time thinks is ok? Thanks.

I believe that the law in Georgia allows for carry of anything 4" and under, so long as it is not an automatic or a bali. HOWEVER, there are two exceptions to this:
1) Within Atlanta city limits (where I live), the blade length restriction is 3"
2) On public transporartation, and in "public spaces" (stadiums, courthouses etc.) length is restricted to 2". Carrying a knife with a blade over 2" long in Georgia on public transportation (bus, train, subway) is a FELONY.

I carry a Spyderco Paramilitary (3" folder) and a Busse Game Warden (3" fixed)every day and I've never had any problems whatsoever- and I live in the Buckhead section of Atlanta, which is sheeple central.
