I was wondering what peoples experience is with Gerber’s US made 420HC? Does it compare to Buck’s, who are regarded to have one of the better 420HCs? It can be a good steel if treated right, so anyone have experience with Gerber’s?

It's not horrible, actually pretty serviceable, I wouldn't say it compares to Buck's as they have more edge retention.

I have a Gerber strongarm that's been a pretty good fixed blade. Just depends what you're wanting out of the knife honestly?

I have a Strongarm, and it serves it's purpose very well.

I have a BuckLite Max hunting knife that serves it's purpose very well.

I got no problem with either blade, but each has its purpose... you have a use in mind?

I have two Gerber knives in 420HC, Both are US made E-Z Outs. I bought one in the late 90's and one about 2005 or so. Some years ago, I measured the hardness of both blades.
One was 59.
The other was 55.
And the difference in performance was noticeable.

On the other hand, I've measured the blade hardness of half a dozen different models of Buck Knives over the years. The blade hardness was consistent at 58-59 HRC.

I haven't tried any recent Gebers, and am unlikely to do so.

Welcome to the forums.

I also have a Gerber Strongarm. I bought one when they were $45 or so a few years ago. It was a good blade for the money. There are now priced at $70 and are a meh recommendation for me now. I have no real issues with my Gerber and the steel but Bucks 420HC is better. Bos HT > Gerbers HT.

If you want to give us a budget, your location (many US sites don't ship overseas), and some info on what you are looking for, we'll happy offer some suggestions.

I used to pathologically detest Gerber products until I used the Prodigy. Yes, they are somewhat 'soft', maybe more than AUS8 imo, but offer 'toughness'.
