So i have My Gerber 06 Auto which is the aluminum handle Drop point combo edge version. I get Her pretty sharp by stepping and ceramic rods but never take to the stone. I’ve never been able to achieve arm hair shaving sharpness with it as I believe taking it to the stones to push for this would actually require me change the angle some because I’m not so sure it’s designed is for hair shaving sharpness but more for a brute work sharpness. I was Hoping someone here would have some
Insight!

If you really want shaving sharp, you’d have to take it to stones and thin out the bevel angle a bit. The trade‑off is you’ll lose some of that durability that makes the 06 such a tank of a knife. Personally, I keep mine touched up with ceramic rods like you do, and it stays plenty sharp for rope, cardboard, and general utility.

Thank you for this. It give me more peace of mind. Mine will diagonally slice computer paper and shave leg hair🤣 but again I figured this had to do with the thickness of the bevel

^this.

for op.....its a decent s30v steel with okay heat treatment so you could thin it down and it should be fine. course if it's handling what your cutting now fine...... I see no reason to do that, unless your goal is to cut arm hair.
