Been looking at some High(er) end knives lately and this one came up, normally I don't like Gerber but this one doesn't seem too bad. The 06 Manual Combat Folder seems like it could be good with the CPM S30V steel and I do like the weight of it at 7oz, i'm just drawn to heaver blades about 8.5 - 9" overall. What do the owners of these blades think? What are the good and not so good points about the 06, or for $112 would you recommend another knife? I plan on throwing it into my EDC rotation with my BM 551 Griptilian, Buck 110, CRKT Ripple and CRKT Apache II.
Thanks for your responses.

Seems like it wouldn't be very good for putting a lot of controlled pressure into a cut because of the superfluous thumb ramp/guard on top.

Ordnance, I actually didn't think of that, but it is a good observation. Seems like if I wanted to put pressure on the top it would become quite uncomfortable very fast.

I have a manual 06. Paid $60 for it on the bay. Not worth a $112 to me but it is nice heavy folder.

For that kind of money get a ZT 0200.

A nice Gerber that is worth the money is the DPSF S30V @ $30 it is hard to beat.

But it isn't big and heavy.:) Gerber's S30V does seam to be on par with most other company's. It seams a little harder than Kershaw's S30V, G-10 Leek 2nd. But not quite as hard as Buck's S30V Vantage Pro.

It is a decent knife. Good and heavy like you said and I enjoy the feel of the handle. Only thing is do not let stuff get into it. Had a freind get mud into his, when he disassembled it, he ended up not being able to get it back together because of some oddity witht he back screws.

So, all in all its not a bad blade, just keep it clean, wat about some other heavier folders in that price range, theres some ZT's but wat about others?
