Don't buy anything from the manufacturers. You'll have no problem finding them from a vendor!

The Gerber 06 Manual Combat Folder looks to be a beast of a knife, and I want one, but I can't buy this MANUAL folder without Military/Police credentials? Are you kidding me?

The looks like a very nice made in the USA Gerber. Hell I didn't even know they still made folders in the USA until I found this knife.

If it makes you feel better they are currently out of stock their website says and its said that for a couple months now

I see the Credentials Required thing in the site, but I'm guessing typo (maybe they outsourced their proofreading to China). Its is readily available on a large internet retailer page.

That's not really true..I went looking for this knife awhile ago and after another quick search now I got the same results..the venders all say they are sold out too..except for eBay but I don't really trust eBay. You may and that's good for you then but I just won't buy a knife from them

While it is good to be wary of eBay, many sellers there are knife-dedicated sellers only, and sell many brand names with extremely high feedback ratings. Not trying to push anything on you but when I've gone with knife-specific sellers, which I always do, I've never gotten a fake or defective product. Just my two cents.

You aren't looking in the right places or aren't looking hard enough. Don't buy anything directly from manufacturers unless you want to pay full MSRP.

I am not sure I've ever bought a knife direct from the manufacturer, in over 10 years of this being a hobby.

Same here. I would buy if it was my last chance to acquire a knife I really wanted, provided I could afford it though.

I'm a little confused..according to Gerber the knife is out of stock but was being sold for $90. Everywhere else says discontinued and the price was higher then 90 except for eBay and amazon where the prices were about 120 and 150 I believe respectfully. So what large knife selling site did you find? And was it less then what the manafaucter sells it for?

If Ka-Bar Still sold the Dozier Bobcat, a nice big folder, I think I'd buy it from them. Not an amazing knife, and black-coated, and Taiwanese, but I gave my old one to a friend and dang it, I wish I hadn't, now they aren't around and I can't find any. Oh well.

But as far as you know according to Gerber it isn't discontinued right? Odd that other sites you are seeing list it as this... perhaps write to them to inquire, maybe the ones we're finding are the last, I don't know.

I have looked at other sites, and every shop I consider to be reputable does not have them in stock. I'm looking for the plain edge.

That I didn't know. Have only seen the serrated version. The link you post goes directly to the serrated version by the way... do they make a plain edge version?
