hi,

any users of the gerber legend out there?
what are your experiences with this tool, any opinions, reviews?

greetings,

mike

The reviews on the Legend have been decidedly mixed. For what it's worth, I carried one for several years and was quite happy with it. (I eventually switched to a SOG PowerLock.) The Legend is a solid tool with excellent features.

I carried one for several years and was quite happy with it but now I`m looking for Surge Lth. legend missing can opener and woodsaw

It's a reasonable, but quite big multitool with it's springloaded handles and replaceable carbide cutters.
The weakest points are the plierstops, i have seen quite a few broken.

When buying a new multitool, also consider the Victorinox Spirit or it's bigger brother the SwissTool in several versions.
Both have better quality overall than the Gerber, while Leatherman is a close second.
:)

I have used this tool everyday for 6 years and worked it hard. Its the best! I snapped the blade twice using the blade as a pry and Gerber replaced the tool twice for free.

I also use the Gerber Diesel. Tough tool and great features. A little clumbersome and a little getting used to as its designed to open with one hand. Thats my two cents.

They probably made him chief;-) I really did give him the tool.
I was at Lake Bunyoni in Uganda in '03. We did a 14 day trip from Kenya through Uganda to Rwanda on a safari to see the mountain gorilla's Parc National des vulcans. That's the gorilla group that features in the movie Gorilla's in the mist (with Sigourney Weaver). On our way back we went on a boattrip on lake Bunyoni to see a pigmee village. They were such poor bastards being paraded for us like monkeys for a little money. Everyone was feeling sorry and passing even the clothes of their backs. I didn't want to do that I carried the Gerber Legend 800. I didn't like it that much so I gave it away....
