On my way to grandmas house to pick up a tamale steamer , my car automatically stopped at sporting goods store which is on the way.
while there I picked up some replacement foosballs since my son has purloined ours for school.
on the way out I noticed they had a rack of GERBER knives...picked up a Gerber Air Ranger
Does anyone have any knowledge of this knife ? it is not bad looking for $38.00.

Tony,
Welcome to the forums!
You have stumbled upon one of the best deals in the knife world! (IMHO) You may want to do a search for "gerber air ranger" but you will find that there are only a few of us who have gotten these. There are two versions of the small one that you found and $38 is a good price for it. (The orinal version has a smooth pivot screw and thumb stud, the newer version has a milled stud and pivot)
There is also a larger version that is a real workhorse. For the money, you would be hard pressed to find a better knife. IMHO!
:D ;) :D

I recently got one of the larger Air Ranger II's. Excellent blade shape. Perfect grind, really sharp. The checkered aluminum grips are about perfect for me.

The last time I checked it wasn't even shown on the Gerber web site.

I understand the smaller ones now come anodized in several colors.

Great knives, poor communications.

Too Cool!
This is one knife that I like enough to track down the variations (and cheap enough to collect them) Now ya got me interested!
