I've long been a fan of the Gerber Combat and Covert folders and own several models. This weekend came across this brand new, boxed OD green variant, for what I'm sure was the deal of the day. The thing is, I can't find much of any info or sales of this variant. Is this a unicorn or nothing to get excited over?

Discontinued but not rare. They were sold by several vendors. If you Google "Gerber Covert green handle" you will find several results.

That search shows a good bit about the new "foilage" assisted but not so much about this specific model. Bladeops shows this one with mention of the newer assisted. With the date on this box at 2006, I was under the impression it's got more history... I guess not.

That Gerber Applegate folder is a good candidate for sharpening the false edge:

There also seems to be a rare version with S30V blade steel and green Micarta handles.

As you see, I've got an assortment of these. That special edition Micarta and the Boker Commemorative set are two that I don't have, of the manual ones. I had one of the F.A.S.T. models and sent it back to Cabelas. It was cheap and pathetic. Also made in China.

I tried my luck at honing the false edge (bottom knife) on my carry model some years ago with a Work Sharp belt sharpener. It ain't pretty, but it got the job done.

The green ones are more rare now since they are so far gone since being produced but not a unicorn. I have gone through so many of the Covert double bevel models. Buy one, sell, regret, buy another, sell, regret. Hard to find ones with good action though. I sold one here a few years ago that haunts me to this day. If anyone of you fine gentlemen have a USA made Covert, in excellent/like new condition please let me know.

This forum is ridiculous. Too many rules compared to other weaponry forums, like Calguns.net. Can't sell without a membership... Can't post links to verified websites unless they're on the approved list... I guess this will be my last post because I'm sure I'll be banned. Big loss. NOT!

Have a nice life.
