Greetings, Does anyone have any infomation on the Gerber Applegate Covert? I think it is 154CM steel.

154CM is Crucible's version of 440c. I like the feel and design of my Gerber SLG 3.25, although from what I've read, a lot of people on here will tell you Gerber makes junk.

i had one and used it really hard both camping and at work. opened tuna cans with it, cut all manner of food stuffs and boxes. even turned screws with it. never took really good care of it so it was no surprise when the liners began to rust. passed it on to a friend. loved the low ride clip. would buy another.

I really liked the design, but the little screws kept falling out of the handle. If you buy one I suggest you take out all the screws (except the pivot screw)& loc-tite them back in before you carry it.

I bought an older one from AG Russells "comeback" case in the old store. Didn't have a problem with the screws, although I've seen it happen to other knives.

This is a really good folder and very innovative in the tactical market. Lots of its features are now common as newly named - gunner grips, LAWKS, choil serrations, etc. One of the few deep carry clips, and probably the best. A good choice in blade steel; if anything, I wish I had been able to get a PE version. With Gerbers (read Fiskars) current off shore sourcing, I doubt they would see that an updated version in G10 and ATS34/S30V would do well. IMHO. Maybe Boker could issue that from an Italian source.

I ordered the Fairbairn Applegate Covert about a month ago. I saw bought it on sort of a whim because I have always wanted one but bought about 15 other flavor of the month tactical folders. I read several bad reviews right after ordering the knife and was thinking I made a mistake. One month later, I'm pleased to report, I love this knife. At first I was ticked off because when I received the knife and realized I could not adjust the main screw tension and the tension. And the knife was very tight. I used break free to lube the knife, and it did not loosen up after a week of working the hell out of it. I used Mobil One synthetic....which I have never used on a knife. And the knife loosened up and and has broken in perfectly. Now I love the knife and I'm thinking of sharpening the second bevel, to make it a dagar as intended.
