In the search for a tactical/special operations style of folding knife, i came across a lot of manufacturers and models. Not many caught my eye--I was looking for something pretty big, which is hard to find in any folder except the Sifu Giant, but it's not really a kinfe I can't really consider right now, for legal and monetary reasons. =(

Considering that I own several Gerber knives and their Military Provisional Tool, I generally trust their products.

Any thoughts on this knife's design, quality, choice of materials, or style? I'd love to hear some suggestions. =)

Gator, I fell in love with the A/F designs, and you can see my knives here. http://albums.photopoint.com/j/AlbumIndex?u=254126&a=1889225
The Limited Edition set has never been off the wood display it came with (pictures can be deceiving) but I love playing with the smaller Covert, though I haven't really carried or used it seems like a real sturdy knife. Maybe not the most practical blade shape for a utility knife, but then that's not what it was designed for.

This one comes up so often there should be a special FAQ

There is a strong pool of opinion that says the locking system on the AF was/is , at least on early ones, seriously unreliable.
Both of mine would unlock with a rap on the spine and one would close as though it had no lock if anything more a slight pressure was put on the blade....like closing a slipjoint.

Try a search of this forum for more detail...or do a Dejanews search of rec.knives
