Gerber AR 3.00 -- comment please

I've had one for a few months and really like it. Action is very smooth. Locks up securely and although it came with a fairly decent edge the Sharpmaker made it much better.I've seen it for sale for less than $30 which is one of the better buys in my opinion

Gerber is a good company and I like the looks and price of this knife. I decided against buying one for two reasons, the steel is not named and I don't like rubber on handles.

If you like Gerber, save up a bit more and get the SLG, another good buy.

Just an opinion....

Hey, Steve-O. There was an article in Tactical Knives a couple of issues back that listed the steel in the AR-3's as being AUS-8. Just thought you might want to know!

Oh, gary, almost forgot. My wife has one and she loves it! The handle fits her hand perfectly. Didn't quite feel right to me. Just too used to the feel of my Delica I guess!

My wife loves the new Gerber. She said it fit her small hands and it's the smoothest opening folder she has tried. With a choice of about 100 folders she carries the little Gerber.

I bought about ten of these when smokey mountain was selling them for $15.00.Great little knife, very smooth opening, shaving sharp out of the box.I bought them to sell to guys at work could have sold several times the number I bought.A bargin at twice the price.

I saw one at lowes but it was in blister pack so I couldn't really handle it. It looked like a nice little knife. The stop pin and liner seemed a little wimpy but my main point of comparison was a BM 750 I was carrying which is a much larger and stronger knife. The gerber is probably plenty tough for its size with the aluminum handle and all. I really like the design of it.

I may not be the sharpest knife in the drawer... but I've got the sharpest knife in the room.

I handled one at a cutlery shop just last week. Soft steel, thin liner, rubber handle inserts. I could close it at will with the lock engaged, this is the kind of knife that gives liner locks and "Made in Taiwan" a bad name.

I bought one for kicks and now I carry it around the house.I have come to prefer a combination blade like this one and the fact that it came with a sharpener is a real plus.
