Air Frame-First Cast Titanium Handle

Portland, OR—Gerber’s Air Frame™ is the finest, most innovative production knife available today. Designed by artist and custom knifemaker William Harsey, the Air Frame™ boasts innovation in handle design, uses the finest materials available, and is produced with flawless craftsmanship.

The Air Frame™’s handle is the first of its kind. Made by casting 6AL4V Titanuim, the handles have contouring, fit and finish not possible with traditional machining or “layering up” manufacturing. All the edges are rounded, providing a smooth comfortable grip. Titanium construction makes the handles as strong as steel, corrosion resistant, yet lightweight. The Air Frame™ currently is available with a bead blasted finish.

Air Frame™ has an aggressive clip point blade made form 154CM stainless steel. The domestic equivalent of ATS-34, this U.S. made stainless steel takes and holds and edge better than the 440 series stainless steels. Blades are available with a fine edge or partially serrated edge, and are heat treated to 59-61c. This provides the best edge holding ability while maintaining flexibility and strength.

Gerber’s new Air Frame™ also has a titanium liner and pocket clip. All fastening hardware and pivot points are machined stainless steel.

The designer, William Harsey has been designing and making custom knives for 20 years. Harsey designed the Air Frame™ to not only be ruggedly functional, but to exhibit true artistic styling as well. It is this attention to aesthetics that separates William Harsey from other custom knife makers.

Air Frames™ will be available March, and have a suggested list price of $240.00. Gerber Legendary Blades stands behind the Air Frame™ with a Limited Lifetime Warranty.

I was just reading about these in the Blade Magazine special edition. Dexter, thanks for the timely info and pics!!

Dexter:
Is this a liner lock? Good looking design but a high price point.

R.D. - Yes, the Air Frame is a liner lock. Though, it does not have a full liner. Look carefully again at the first photo - you can make out the "liner" where it is fastened under the two rearward assembly screws and it tapers to where the lock bar contacts the tang. This will all make sense once you get to see it up close.
