gerber combat folder legal to carry in washington state

In the state, yes. In certain cities, no.

The state only says:
(1) Every person who:
(a) Manufactures, sells, or disposes of or possesses any instrument or weapon of the kind usually known as slung shot, sand club, or metal knuckles, or spring blade knife;
(b) Furtively carries with intent to conceal any dagger, dirk, pistol, or other dangerous weapon; or
(c) Uses any contrivance or device for suppressing the noise of any firearm unless the suppressor is legally registered and possessed in accordance with federal law,
is guilty of a gross misdemeanor punishable under chapter 9A.20 RCW.

-RCW 9.41.250

This does not apply to folding knives.

However, Seattle has some strict rules:
C. "Dangerous knife" means any fixed-blade knife and any other knife having a blade more than three and one-half inches (3 1/2") in length.

- Seattle Municipal Code 12A.14.010

It is unlawful for a person knowingly to:
...
B. Carry concealed or unconcealed on his or her person any dangerous knife, or carry concealed on his or her person any deadly weapon other than a firearm; or
- Seattle Municipal Code 12A.14.080

The Gerber Combat Folder has a 4.48", so it would be ok in most areas but out in Seattle as an example.

What about a 3.25" folding knife? I'm moving there soon and I was curious about the laws.

3.25"<3.5" last time I checked. Law enforcement are not allowed to go "Eh, close enough to illegal" if they want to keep their badge. Mind, there are cops out there are just plain ignorant and actually have a completely wrong idea of what the law is, but the courts always follow the law as written.

You can't carry any knife in this state as a weapon but outside the Puget Sound area no one will bother you about a knife carried as a tool as long as you have an obvious reason for needing it.

Blade length varies on city. Each city can make it's own laws... length and fixed or not.
Seattle, bans all fixed blades and any knife over 3.5 inches.
Everett bans knives over 3 inches.
Tacoma bans blades over 3.5 inches.

why don't you people just call up the DA office and ask them what the law says and you want the statue of the law as well?? it is not like they will out and out lie to you.

Like I said, outside the Puget Sound area. Our laws state you can't carry a "dangerous weapon" and a knife of any size can be called that when they want. Working people carry all manner of large folders every day here without being bothered but get caught doing something illegal with a knife in your pocket and you will probably hear about dangerous weapons. You see it in our crime reports everyday.
