So I bought one because I thought it would work well for the in curved portion of my kershaw storm, and byrd crossbill.

What a piece of croc. It's twice the price, twice the length of other brands displayed next to it. So I thought, well that must give twice the diamond covered lengh, and would lasts longer and sharpens easier, right? NO, once you buy it and take it out the card package, ONLY THE FRONT HALF OF THE ROD IS COATED, AND YOU CAN'T SEE IT TILL YOU BUY AND OPEN THE PACKAGE! And now the package is open, can't return it either.

The grit seems to be really coarse too, about 400 I'd say. It's too rough to use for fine sharpening, but okay for field/emergency I guess, if it last long enough.

I definately do not recommand it for daily use.

i got one of those too, but what i found is that if you flip the rod around, it works as an awesome steeling rod. the grit is very coarse like you said, however it is a good choice if you can only have one device with you. i consider it a quick and dirty sharpener when i need it, and a maintence tool for my plain edges.
