Gerber Double Joint Saw

Has anyone used one of these? I've been looking for a bigger saw to pack in my backpack than the one my SAK offers. Was browsing Sven Saws and other folding saws and came across this. The blade angle is interesting, but beyond that it seemed inexpensive, lightweight and fairly compact.

My experience has only been with the regular Gerber folding saws. The ones I've used worked very well when new but did not stay sharp as long as Silky saws.

I don't understand the point of the folding handle. Seems to me that if the handle has to be that long to cover the blade then you wouldn't want to shorten it when open since it would give you more reach.

I use the Fiskars slide saw, and I like it very much. It's smaller than the Gerber above, but it weighs about 3 ounces and is very effective for it's size.

I have used a Corona fixed blade saw, and it's a real monster, especially with the curved edge. You have to come up with some sort of edge guard for it though.

They also sell a folding version, which I imagine cuts just as well. I TonyM really likes his:
