Gerber E-Z Out Skeleton

I know Gerber manufactures one of the E-Z out models with an ATS-34 blade, but does anyone know what the inexpensive model (#06701) is made with? AUS-6/AUS-8? 420HC/440A?

Sheesh! I guess nobody knows

Anyway, I bought the knife for a friend and was hoping to give him some info about the blade so he'd have an idea what to expect. Probably doesn't matter anyway...he broke the blade of the last knife I gave him

Check out Gerber's website to make sure, but I believe it's 440A.

Their site just says "stainless steel" but I remember reading in an early issue of TK that the basic EZ-Out was 440A.

My fall 2002 catalog that just came has a skeletonized EZ out for 29.99. Lists it as 154CM in the description. Doesn't list the serial number so I can't be sure if its the same one your looking at.

Thanks to all of you who replied. I suppose the type steel really doesn't matter, as long as the knife suits the intended purpose. By the way, I'm giving my buddy a 10" prybar along with the knife. Hopefully he'll understand
