Can anyone provide some feedback on the quality of this knife as compared to a BM of a similar price? I am unfamiliar with the locking mechanism, Cross Bolt.

many thanks

IIRC the early GEAs had some probs with lock up and blade play, the 2 i have seen were recent vintage and looked/worked fine.

imho BM autos, gen'ly, are a little better made, a little better F&F, just a little better knife imho.

personally i would get a BM over the GEA, a BM in the same price range of course.

not a great diff though.

I believe that the "Cross Bolt" lock is the name given the standard pluge lock that is used for the GEA. May be wrong.................I was one other time! :D :D :D

I handled and worked the BM autos. They are well made, look good and you can make a sandwich while they open. The Alliance is no speed demon but it is faster opening than any BM I've worked. The Alliance is over-built, has a grip like emery board and the safety button and firing button are in tandem making one handed use a breeze. It is a dream heavy duty auto. $150 at the Eugene show this spring.

The black clip allows for deep pocket clip, if your state law allows carry, and it is tip up.

Take the challenge and work the mechanisms of both and then decide. Blade shows are terrific for this informed shopping style.

All the best,
