Gerber Ez-Out knife steel

I was saw an Ez-Out at our local Mountain Equipment Co-op for $46.

Checked on line and their site says 440a

Yet another site has a better steel.

Have the American Ez-Outs gone the way of 440A too?

There were two versions of the EZ-out--the first run used 440A, and then they started making them in ATS-34 as well (I have the ATS-34 version). I'm not sure if they discontinued the 440A or if they continued to make both versions.

I think they're still making both versions. $46 for an EZ-Out is a bit steep. Try eBay (but then they usually don't mention the type of steel...).
