Hey everyone,
I was wondering about the Gerber EZ-out that I saw recently. I have an older one that has served me very well. I carried it for many a years, and it has seen hell and back. The new one has a more spanto looking front end, and claims to be s30v. Anyone have any knowledge on this? I am thinking about getting one for myself and cousin.

Thanks.

I don't know how much they're charing for an S30V EZ-OUT, but considering you can get a Spyderco Native in CPM-S30V for 40 dollars on Walmart.com, I'm just not sure why you would.

IIRC Gerber used to make an EZ-out in ATS34 about 10 years ago. I think it ran about $45 while the "surgical steel" model was running in the $20's.

This new one appears to only be available in a combo edge and it looks like it runs in the mid $30's online. I think the thumb hole looks better done than that on the original. I might be temped except that I really don't care for combo edges.

I have had one for years and carry it a lot. It's been a great knife for me. I recently had siguy put a new edge on it for me. It's ready for several more years.

Interesting! The EZout was my first clip folder, and I loved it! I have since moved on to better knives but I would take a look at a S30V model.

I tried one of the "new" EZ-outs some time ago and was not impressed. The action was gritty and overall quality seemed less.

How could you go more than a week without sharpening your knife? Get a Lansky system or something

Jim had many knives and probably carried more than one in a week. He also liked to have his knives professionally sharpened, I was lucky enough to sharpen some for him.

Unfortunately, Jim is no longer with us.
