Ok....no better teacher than experience. Was cutting a box with my Gerber mini-fast draw and the whole spring and locking mechanism just broke down. Doesn't lock anymore nor does it spring open. The knife is about 8 months old and it hasn't been put to heavy use. I was doubting why people thought so badly about Gerber and now I know for myself. I have a few more Gerbers that don't get to put to much use and know I know for sure I won't take them anywhere where I need a reliable knife!

Does anyone know the official address for Gerber? Want to send it back to them and see if they will send me a new one. Hell, if they don't no big loss. Does anyone have any experience sending anything back to Gerber?

I tried to find Gerber's official site which is supposed to be Gerbergear.com but it doesn't load (that figures). Does anyone know if this is the official Gerber site?

I dont understand Gerber. They use to be one of Americas great knife companies. I use to love them. I have a Gerber EZ out from the early 90s and i love that knife. Its a tough knife and fit and finish is excelent. What has happend to that company. I bought a Gerber profile knife a few months ago and that was the worst knife i have ever owned. You couldnt sharpen it even if you used the best grinder or shapening stone in the world. I just cant imagine a company that was thought of by so many people go down so fast. Its sad......Im sorry about your knife.

I got a Gerber paraframe as a gift and while it's a cheap little knife, I've whacked it very hard on it's blade spine and you can't get it to fail! That little frame lock is the toughest POS I've ever seen.

Thanks for the contact info Richard...Don't like the fact that the company is hard to contact online. That is always kinda suspicious to me. Can't wait to get my Benchmade Mini Griptilian. I hear that is a great knife. As far as the Gerber mini fast draw that broke for no apparent reason, I have replaced it with the SOG Flash I..it's not as small as the Gerber...but hopefully it will outlast it. I read on here somewhere of a guy that abused the hell out of it and it is still going strong. Hard to believe because it is a very light knife and doesn't feel as strong as the Gerber did size for size, but look what happened to the Gerber.

Try contacting them, Gerber's customer service is excellent. I don't have their cheaper knives but the ones I do have (mid to higher priced) are great

I had a Paraframe, Jill, but I couldn't get it to cut! I tried slicing into some of those plastic bubblewrap cartons and mine just bounced off it like it was iron. When we say Gerber is horrible, well, we just ain't whistlin' Dixie!
