While I was at Cabela's today, I picked one of these up. Very nice - beautiful Cocobolo handle & dark leather sheath (not the same design as the standard sheath). This would make a great bird knife. 'May have to put it on my 2006 wish list. Anyone out there have one?

I don't have one, but I have to admit, that's a slick little knife. Not a bad price, either.

I definitely wouldn't mind having one.

They had them at Wally World on clearance. I thought they were the junk stainless that Gerber has been using. Nope, they were S30V, and I missed out on them!

I picked one up at Cabelas in Hamburg Pa. Hoping to use it to clean out and skin my next deer. could not find any info on the web--including gerber's web site which appears to be blocking my access. also picked up a wyoming knive and a handy looking lttle gadget called a zip saw which is supposed to do a nice job on sawing through the pelvic bone 9usually very tricky) without damaging the innards.

I made this knife to the specs of a avid hunter that has done alot of caping. The agrssive relief on the spine is for better clearance when rotating the blade in tight qtrs. The blade is 3 5/8 in. The scales are anodized aluminum with afziel burl inlays. I have made this knife with both S30 & 3V, the users seem to like the 3V much better. I have hunted all my life but I never performed or even watched a caping job. I would like your thoughts on this design, I try to make what clients want and appreciate any input I can get. Personaly I prefer all wood or micarta scales, but it seems most people prefer the flash & shine of polished blades & handles.

Thank You
Leon Pugh

I have the standard Freeman Caping (in mystery stainless). It's a super handy little knife. I find the ergonomics very similar to the Spyderco Native, which is one of my all-time favorites.

The edge on the one I bought was way too thick, I took it down on the Sharpmaker and now it does great (within the capability of the steel).

I think it'd be excellent in S30V, if it has a good heat treat.
