Just wondering if anybody has used the Gerber Game Cleaning Combo. Model number is 47189. It comes with a guthook / skinning knife, a saw, and a Mossy Oak sheath that holds both. I bought one yesterday, but haven't used it yet.

After my experience with the newer gerber products, I don't think I'll ever buy another. The locking arm on my (framelock) paraframe II broke completely off in a zero-abuse situation. Replaced under warrenty; new knife had no edge, just a rough bevel ground on. I literally couldn't cut myself with it (I know, because I tried in disbelief!). Will not take a shaving edge for the life of me. Haven't tested the retention of the edge it will take because I promptly went and bought a Spyderco! But I can tell you my first paraframe II didn't hold an edge for shit, and neither does it's baby brother the mini paraframe (which I EDC while I was waiting for the para2 to come back).

Its a shame, because my gerber multi tool (original, before they even came out with the locking model) has held up great over the years; even if the knife blade sucks...

The blade on the skinner came pretty dull, but I managed to put an edge on it good enough to cut paper very smoothy. The Gerber EZ Out used to be my favorite beater knife, before they came out with the skeletonized blade.

I like a deep-bellied skinner and have become a beleiver in the so-called "gut hook" but I have never used one with a T-handle. I held a couple and they felt awkward to me so I opted for a handle I was more familiar with.
