Can anyone tell me what steel Gerber uses in their Gator Drop Point fixed blade?? Their web site and literature only describes this as "high carbon stainless steel" which could be a lot of things. I did notice that in one of the Gator "folding" models they use ATS34. Does anyone know if that is the steel used in the fixed blade version (which I doubt)?

Would also like opinions on which is the best knife (to be used for hunting, skinning, boning) between the Fallkiven F1, the Spyderco Bill Moran Drop Point, and the Gator fixed blade Drop Point. I don't think the Gator is in the same class as the other two, but since I may be able to get one for little or nothing I can't rule it out. To be frank I am leaning towards the F1 as it seems to have the same attributes as the Bill Moran, but offers greater blade strength. What I don't like about the F1 is its cheap sheath. Any suggestions for a reasonably priced sheat for this little hummer ??

Greeting's , I am not Possitive of this but on one of several "Visit's" to Gerber i asked a couple of people who work there what steel do you use most said 440 c so unless they mark it differently i assume it is 440 c
