Would like to know if the sheath that comes with the Gerber Guardian Back Up allows for horizontal mounting on the belt.

Ideally, being right handed, the knife would be mounted on my left hip, with the handle pointing towards the front, allowing a quick draw with my right arm.

any info is appreciated

THANKS!

Hey Satpak....

The sheath that comes with it doubtfully will allow you to carry in that manner...

A custom sheath however can be set up any which way you so desire.

Personally I like to advise my clients not to carry in this particular fashion, however carry in a slightly modified cross draw carry...

When you carry in the manner you talked about,, the knife is actually positioned for a quicker draw from someone looking to snatch your blade...

Instead the way you carry a knife in this manner is to carry in what I like to call BBC (Belt Buckle Carry). The knife carries flat across the front of your pants, with the handle close to your body,, it is harder to be grabbed by someone either screwing around,, or serious about doing you harm.

This carry gives you much better control over the handle, and as an added bonus,, the males natural reaction to movement toward the groin area is to block, and protect the family jewels,,which are only several inches southward. This entire area is very well protected by natural instinct...

I use to carry in the cross draw carry with the handle sticking out,,and was tired of people grabbing my knife,, just scrwing around,, and was almost cut several times because of it... Carrying in BBC a person is less likely to reach for your crotch area, either fooling around or what have you..

This same mindset goes for outside small of the back carry.. If someone knows there is a knife there,, it can easily be taken while grappling,,or being wrestled to the ground..

Hope that helps,,and if you need some help with that backup,,feel free to drop me a note..

ttyle

the sheath on my guardian only has a clip it wouldnt work like ya want without mods imho.

If you buy this knife, definitely get a custom sheath. The dagger rattles around in that cheap piece of bulky plastic like a Diamondback.
