One of my all time favorite Gerbers . I've owned it before, but foolishly traded it off about a year ago. I'm glad to have it back. It's a great knife with several features which make it stand out above other rescue knives.

It has a fully serrated blade with a blunted tip for cutting seatbelts and/or rope etc....It also has a glass breaker tip on the butt of the knife, perfect for SD if necessary, you have a blade on one end and a hard hitting tip on the other.

This part that I'm about to talk about is what most people confuse for the seatbelt cutter. It's a little slide out hook that is actually for push cutting (pulling) through clothing without the danger of harming the victim any further than they already are. The "seatbelt cutter" is actually the serrated blade. I suppose you could use both for either task, but that is their actual intended purpose.

The knife also has an oxygen tank wrench built into the handle. This part is only really useful if you know what you are doing and are in a "Rescue" type of field.

This is an all in all great knife to have for rescue, emt, firefighters, etc...Even as an EDC knife for some who like having a serrated blade. The hook cutter that slides out works as a great bottle opener and the glass breaker tip is perfect for using as a nail punch if you do carpentry. The Serrated blade could be used for just about anything. It comes shaving sharp and it works as a razor too. I touched up around my mustache and it cuts very smoothly. Great knife to have for just about any task, especially rescue operations. The blunted tip works great for a last minute flathead screwdriver and a prybar. Since the front is blunted there isn't the fear of ruining the tip, especially since it is very thick.

Hope you guys enjoyed my praise of the Hinderer Rescue, let me know what you think, J.

loved mine from the moment i opened it, really cool look to it, gotten more compliments on it than most of my other knives:grumpy:. Its a handful nice solid feel, locks solid...Gerber makes some quality knives ya just gotta look around.
