Gerber Identification

Hi everyone,

I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. Just want to thank everyone for the incredible amount of knowledge I've already gained. I had no idea how much I had to learn.

Anyway, I am wondering if any of you experts can help me identify my one "good knife". Obviously, it pales in comparison to most of the knives I've already seen. I bought it almost 10 years ago at Bass Pro Shops when I needed a decent hunting knife. For the life of me, I can't figure out what it is that I bought exactly.

I've searched all over Gerber's site and done tons of internet searches, but so far nothing comes up. Any help you all could offer is appreciated!

By the way, I'm planning to be around for a long time. I definitely have an addiction (thanks to BF) and I'm looking forward to the pursuit of more quality knives!

Thanks!

I can't help with identification, but I can say welcome to the forum.

The amount of knowledge here is endless. And so is my credit card bill since joining. ;)

Have fun (and more self control than me! )

I just read the new member rules about not posting to ask for value. I'm definitely not intending to sell this knife at all. I was just curious as to what the model number was.

If the moderators feel this is a violation then please feel free to shut this thread down. I don't want to get off on the wrong foot by violating any of the forum rules.

Thanks.

Guys try to get help identifying knives all the time. I'm sure your ok. .

Appears to be a Freeman Folding model, albeit with slightly different scales than what I've seen before.

Thanks Red. I think you're right. The frame is definitely the same. Steel, finish and scales are different but it definitely looks like it's some sort of Freeman.

I appreciate it!

The Gerber Freeman came in a junky mystery steel, but otherwise was a nice design. I have one.
It must have been successful despite the steel, because they brought out a folding version, & a better steel version. You have the folder/better steel version.
How do you like it?

It is indeed a Gerber Freeman. This particular model I believe is a Cabelas Exclusive model. It had the S30V steel with the cocobolo handle scales.

Nice knife, and welcome to Bladeforums!

I'm not a fan of gut hooks, just don't have a use for 'em, but I love those handles!

Yep, that's it. I was thinking I bought it at Bass Pro...clearly was Cabelas. Thanks!

Thanks Bob. Yeah, this was purchased early in my hunting days. I've since realized they're really not necessary as a good sharp blade is all that's really needed.

But the handles are really nice. Actually the whole frame just feels good in the hand in my opinion. Lots of usable jimping that doesn't tear you up.

Honestly, I really like it. Flips open easily, locks up tight and the blade has been good. It's pretty heavy, but I think that's a good thing considering its purpose.

I've got my eye on the ZT 0562CF though (thanks to this forum). My guess is it realistically can't compare to a more modern mid to high end folder.

Trying to identify Gerber boot knife MK 1? Google myself to death...serial number B0044S..how to add pic from my Android?
