Gerber Instant. Your opinions?

Check out the Knife Review and testing section. There is a thread on the first page called "Gerber Instant: The Comeback Kid." At first I was concerned about the button lock as I had a bad past experience with a Kershaw button lock, but this knife has certainly proven worthy for me. Wish it had a safety. I always think it's gonna open in my pocket. It hasn't, but I think that way about all AOs with no safety. I would prefer it manual. Only my personal preference. So far so good and I have put my instant throu quite a bit as a Maintenance Director.

I bought the Gerber Instant at the end of August. I will have to say that I really enjoyed the design. It felt great in the hand, took an exceptional edge quickly, and it had a deep carry pocket clip. About the only negative I could give it was that when extracting it from the pocket the dual thumbstuds would hang up the knife, and that was about it.
Buuuut after only having it exactly a week it broke. The "spring assist bar" snapped one time when simply closing the knife. I was not hard using the knife in any manner, just closing the blade and it broke. I immediately contacted Gerber warranty services about it. Dealing with Gerber has been a very unpleasant experience on several occassions. Plus it is 3 months later, and I still do not have a new(or repaired) knife. I will say a very small portion of the 3 months is my fault cause it took me about a week once i received the packaging to when I sent it back via FedEx.
I took pictures, but have not yet taken the time to learn how to post them yet.
Overall, I would say I thoroughly like the design of the knife but am not very impressed with the material quality and company service.

I bought one to see how they are - since they have a ball-bearing pivot.
I like it - it has G10 and seems well made.
I have open and closed mine quite a bit and it has not had a problem.
The blade is centered and the lockup is tight and no blade play.
Not too bad for the money. It's now the knife I keep in my truck console.

They recalled 3000 because the button locks would not engage. The blade would spring open and bounce right back to closed position and cut people's finger.
