I was wondering if anyone has used the Gerber Instant yet. I was watching the ad and it looks pretty solid performance wise. But it's only advertising. So... Is it really as good as the hype?
 
Don't post much on it here, I mostly lurk but for what's it worth, I picked one up a few weeks ago, carried it everyday since. I was never really a fan of gerber, nothing of theirs ever really appealed to me I guess. I fell for the ad and picked one up and I am really liking it. I've owned several knives like many on here, spydercos, benchmades, etc, owned and carried a hinderer xm18 for awhile. I have to say, the instant is very well made, I like that its fairly cheap and easily replaced if I were to loose or break it. That being said, the steel seems to be of a lower variety but it took a nice edge when I sharpened it. I've used it alot and the other day, I cut the front bumper off a Nissan Altima with it and it held up nicely, edge was good and it still locks up solid. I dig it, it will most likely remain my edc for awhile.
 
The may be a recall on the knife. I came across this when I did a search.
