I haven't been on for awhile but I have a small Gerber pocket knife with blade marked "THIS BLADE HAS BEEN PURPOSELY DULLED" no model number just Gerber and Portland, Or. 97223 U.S.A. Black zytel handles and satin silver blade finish. Is it a salesman's display knife? Thanks

Google "Image upload" or "Photo upload" and upload there.
Then copy image URL and paste it here.

I just want to know what the reason is for this knife. I guess I'll call Gerber Monday. Thanks

As mentioned, for display. With these, they usually just wanted to show off the weight and strength of the handles, no need for them to be sharp.

It’s a display from the original Gerber Company.. if I remember correctly , Gerber Was bought some 20 years ago by Fiskars...It should sharpen out to a usable edge!

My younger brother used to write that on blades after I got done sharpening them.

This one is a display piece most likely. I'll be curious to know if any of the current Fiskars personnel will recognize it.

I called Gerber and they said it was a early display or show knife dulled for safety reasons when handling.

On a side note does anyone know when they dropped the nail nick ?
I'm just curious.

I've got an LST ultralight a member sent me over a year ago and quite like the little guy but can't find it right now so I just ordered another one.
I really like how the more recent ones don't have the nail nick, it's just nice when it's left off a knife that doesn't need it.
It's a great little knife, easy to forget about, thin full hollow ground blade that punches way above it's weight, and the half stop just gives a very satisfying to the W&T.
