Today, I held multi-tools from both Gerber and Leatherman.
I really like the easy access to the pliers on ther Gerber and the one-handed opening blades on the LM without having to open the entire tool.
Does Gerber make a multi with a both the automatic pliers as well as an easy one-handed opening blade like the LM?
If there is one, I'll buy it on the spot.

The 800 is quite a nice tool in my opinion. I carried one for a year before changing to the Wave. My only (small) complaint with the tool is that the spring loaded pliers open a little too wide to be comfortable for me. Two big pluses are that you can use various saw blades instead of the all purpose one which comes with the 800. Also, the cutting blades in the pliers rotate so you can turn them when dull. Even though it's not currently my EDC, I'd recommend getting one. ;)

Matches,
Why did you switch over to the Wave? I know it's the new rage and all, but what was it that actually made you lay out the dough?

To be perfectly honest, I could easily have stayed with the 800 despite my minor criticisms. When you boil everything down, I was probably impressed with the "all stainless" look of the Wave, and the fact that it packs an awful lot into a small tool. For my own personal use, I still rate the Schrade ST5E number one.
